Eastern Kulambu Masala Review
Eastern Masala, Received their pack by last month for review, i was so excited to open up the pack, that was nice aroma i smelled when i open the pack.. amazed of the variety of masala, and after blogging i stopped using readymade masala from market, to show the recipe from scratch i started using all the masalas from homemade fresh masalas.
Its been years to hold the edam packed masala, Eastern masala is one of the wonderful product which remembers our family cooking taste, i felt a comfortable mate in my kitchen,i thought to share the review and recipe along with every separate post, First i start with Kukambu masala, Never i used a readymade kulambu masala, alway my MIL prepare the kulambu masala for me, very first time i used Eastern kulambu masala to my usual Fish Curry, there is no words to explain the aroma in it, i have to negative points in this review, coz i loved it a lot, even i thought to get some stock of kulambu masala for my Pantry, Spiciness, color, flavour(aroma), are really very very fresh when i open the pack, on the same i did fish curry and fish fry, I assure the point “Eastern Kulambu Masala Made my day Easy”, When i plan to start the work that was a Sunday morning, my busy morning went very ease through this Masala..

Fish fry is one of the easy recipe, that with Eastern masala, i wondered much, some time the masala will come out form the fish while frying, here it comes out perfect, and to your note i use iron kadai for frying fish, and i used Lady Fish for the review.

Fish Curry with Eastern Kulambu masala

Ingredients
Fish | 500gms |
Tamarind | 1 lemon sized |
Eastern Kulambu masala | 2-3 tabel spoon |
Coconut | 1/2 cup |
Turmeric Powder | 1/4 tsp |
Pearl onion | 4-5 nos |
Garlic | 4 pods |
Jeera | 1 tsp |
Pepper | 3/4 tsp |
Vendhayam/Methi/Fenugreek | 1/2 tsp |
Curry Leaves | 2 springs |
Oil | 2 tsp |
Salt | to taste |
Ingredients For Tempering
Oil | 3 tsp |
Mustard | 1/2 tsp |
Fenugreek seeds/Methi | 1/2 tsp |
Garlic | 4-5 pods |
Tomato | 1 medium sized |
Green chille | 2 nos |
Curry Leaves | 2 springs |
Method
Peel the Onion and Garlic, roughly chop them, fry them in a dry pan.. once they got shrieked form the heat, remove from the pan and set aside to cool completely..
Take Jeera, Pepper, Methi(vendhayam), Mustrad, fry them till they pop out, no need to add oil, just dry roast them.. and allow this cool along with the onion..
Heat the pan with 2 tsp of oil, Add in the coconut and curry leaves..
Now our POST HERO Eastern Masala Kulambu masala i generally added two tablespoons of masala
Here you go.. Wow such an flavourful masala..
Add in the turmeric powder and fry them along with the coconut..
Remove the coconut mix and allow this cool, roughly chop one medium sized tomato and fry them with a tsp of oil..
Here is my masala mix, getting cooled
Cook tomatoes till they turn mushy, cool up and grind the masala along with the mushed tomatoes.. you need to ground the masala to a very fine paste..
Wash and clean the fish in running water
Add tamarind juice to the fish..
Grounded masala &n salt.. add some water if needed..
Mix them up, start cooking it..
once you see the gravy get to boil, put the flame to medium cover the pan with a id, allow this cook for 10-15 mins or till the gravy simmer to your consistency..
Here is the Tempering ingredients, crush the garlic, chop the tomatoes slit and cut the green chillies.. if you want you can chop the curry leaves too..
Heat a pan with oil, Pop up the mustard and mehti seeds, fry the Crushed garlic, green chillies and Tomatoes..
Tadaaa, transfer the tempering tot he fish curry.. all done..
Ingredients For Fish Fry
Fish | 4-5 pcs |
Eastern Kulambu masala | 1 tsp |
Turmeric Powder | 1/4 tsp |
Salt | to taste |
Oil | 1/4 cup |
Mehtod
Wash and clean the fish, add slat, Eastern Kulambu masala to the fish
Mix well and set aside for marination
Heat a pan with oil, roast the Marinated fish pieces..
