Rava Upma
Rava Upma/Sooji Upma, This is such a easy comfort breakfast or dinner item, this is such a easy one to prepare.. mostly we have this with Sugar and Banana, we love the sweet version..
Mom prepare this often, in her busy schedule she prefer these kind of easy recipes.. don’t know why i delayed to share this recipe.. again a recipe for beginners kitchen… If you want to add some vegetable, then add some carrots and beans while frying the onions.. but for normal Rava upma, vegetable will not be added.. This is my continuous 96th post..
Ingredients
Rava/Sooji | 1 cup |
Oil | 2 tsp |
Mustard | 1/2 tsp |
Urad Dhal | 1/2 tsp |
Channa Dhal | 1/2 tsp |
Curry Leaves | 1 spring |
Green Chilly | 2 nos |
Onion | 1 medium sized |
Water | 1.5 cups |
Salt | to taste |
Coconut | 1/4 cup |
Method
Dry roast the Rava in medium flame till it raise a nice aroma. Transfer the rava to the plate and set aside..
Heat the same pan with some oil/ghee, Temper with Mustard, urad dhal, channa dhal.
Fry onion, Green chillie, curry leaves..
Once the onion turns soft, aft the water, bring this to boil..
Add in the grated coconut and salt..
Once the water gets roll and boil..slowly add the roasted rava to the water.. without clumps stir the pan.. and when the water dries up, switch off the flame and close the pan with a tight lid.. keep the lid for 10-15 mins, and scrap the upma with a forks to make them separate..
All done, this can be served with banana and sugar, and if you love for a savoury version then try this upma with Egg curry or coconut chutney..
